Want to be mesmerized by serpentine roads moving far too quickly? And music? Yessss you dooo. Hop in!
Finally back home, need a post-vacation vacation. I'll be posting lots of stuff over the next week or so from this trip, so keep ya eyes peeled. Above is one of my favorite shots; car, beach, babe, it was all there.
Back in LA with Silvercar! This time; less desert and more Supercar Sunday/PCH crusin'.
Rental cars are the best. To quote Alex Lloyd, "Let's face it, rental cars are cool to drive. After all, they don't belong to us, so we feel a little more relaxed about destroying its four, rock-hard economy tires." Check. "I mean, they aren't usually particularly nice cars." Hold the phone...
Usually when filming a car, I attached a GoPro to the rear bumper in order to capture some pure, unfiltered exhaust sound. Usually I end up with the kind of noises that give James May (and all the rest of us, for that matter) a certain fizzing sensation, down there. The '13 2.0T was, well; very different.
LA > Palm Springs > Idyllwild Mountain > Joshua Tree, and a lot of other stuff between. Enjoy! (click through for the album)
I spent a little over one week with an Audi A4 2.0T from SilverCar. I'm usually wary of companies that employ flippant mottos like "Rentals that don't suck," but in this case, it quite perfectly captures the ethos.
Full video will be up tomorrow, what a week it's been.
Yesterday I visited Joshua Tree National Park with my family. The scenery is incredible, and the rock formations towering. We stopped in a few different spots for a quick hike; an old-time cowboy galloping through would not have been out of place anywhere in the park, it's got a real 'frozen in time' feel to it.
I got my first dose of California twisty driving last week on Mulholland Drive, but this, this is different. Mulholland is massively scenic, but heavily populated. A few hours East; Idyllwild Mountain turns the scenery up to 10, and the driving up to 11.
Some say, it's the best road JBH has ever encountered. Full video will be up in a few hours.
It was forking amazing. Idyllwild Mountain may be the most satisfyingly extensive portion of twisty road I've ever encountered. There wasn't even traffic.
Here is a quick spin down/up/around a portion of Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles, the car is a 2013 Audi 2.0T rented from Silver Car.
